I just got back from a brief vacation. I missed Oppomeet day 2 to take the wife and kids up to the People’s Republic of Wisconsin. State Motto: If you go four over the speed limit, you’ll be the fastest MFer on the road, you maniac.

I only have a couple pictures, because driving, but I just had to stop and take a quick terrible picture of this lovely VW pickemup. It’s a shame it sat in the same parking spot all three days we were there.

Other notables were: some sort of little white British car (an Austin?) that my wife thought was a Beetle, but was clearly neither rear engined nor air cooled, a brown Jeep CJ-5 Renegade with sweet yellow, orange, and red graphics, a couple VW T2 vans, a blue ‘70(?) GTO, a beautiful green and wood paneled Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and a faded red Chevy LUV.

What I really didn’t expect to see when refueling in rural Wisconsin was a Jaloptastic BMW 3-Series wagon ... Clattering away from the deisel pumps around back.

On the way home today we whitnessed a fiberglass extension ladder fly off a trailer, go spinning through a busy 4-5 lane section of I-43 south in Milwaukee, and somehow hit nothing. A bizillion points and a fresh pair of undershorts to the driver of the Kia who was on the ball, must’ve put the brake pedal through the floor, and managed to stop on the shoulder no more than 8" from where that ladder ended up. It was an impressive bit of driving.

Also, I have the best kids in the world. My 1 and 3 year old girls were in the truck for about eight hours today, with just a few toys to entertain themselves, with nary a complaint.

Now it’s time to watch the “Edie’s Wedding” episode of Archer (because Wisconsin) and then pass out.

You’re a lucky man, those kids are troopers.

Yes I am! Yes they are!

It’s not like we’re some weird no-tv family either, they watch plenty of it when we’re at home, but it’s never even been brought up as an option when we’re out and about.
